What do you do at Towmate Trailers?

I work with each of the department managers to ensure the business is operating efficiently and continues to grow.

What have you done before?

I have only ever worked at ATE / Towmate. I have worked in every area of the business, from servicing trailers and fitting towbars to packing parcels, processing orders, setting up the IT systems, serving on the trade counter producing marketing material and visiting customers.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate?

Working with a great team and delivering outstanding customer service.

What one piece of advice would you give to somebody starting at Towmate?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s the best way to learn.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I’m involved with various charitable organisations outside of work including being a governor at a private secondary school. When I get any spare time, my wife and 4 kids keep me busy, and I enjoy working in the garden at weekends.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Steak and chips.

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

I worked over 20 years in a range of roles from production through parts and sales for Western Global, a manufacturer of fuel and water bowsers and storage tanks for the construction and temporary power sectors.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

Building long-term customer relationships that lead to ongoing success.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Spending time with my wife Saski and 2 children; Tora and Maxwell. Going out for family days, walking and sightseeing. BBQ, especially smoking meat low & slow or frying chicken!

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Indian, Mexican, Turkish, Chinese, Greek, Texas BBQ, French, KFC.

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

Schooling. Finished sixth form in May of 2020.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

How friendly and welcoming everyone is. Coming from school straight into work is very overwhelming and a big adjustment but everyone was, and continues to be very open and friendly and willing to lend a hand.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I like to do a bit of photography here and there and I also like doing a bit of cooking. Getting out for walks or going for bike rides by the coast is also nice.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Urm, I’m not really sure to be honest, I don’t really have a favourite food, really like experimenting with new things and trying out different cuisines and styles of cooking, although I am very partial to a tub of Halo Top Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

Prior to joining Towmate, I have always worked in the local area for engineering-based businesses which includes FlaktWoods, A.Smith Gt Bentley Ltd and Cookson & Zinn (PTL) Ltd. I followed an engineering apprenticeship and have held positions in Product Design, Welding Engineering, and for the largest part Production & Operations Management.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

My favourite thing about working at Towmate is the warm, positive and helpful approach of everyone who works here. The working environment is fantastic too!

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, most sports and particularly playing golf & road cycling for fun.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Traditional Sunday lunch.

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

My background is in electrical engineering. Previously working as Production Manager for a company that made packaging machines for the food and consumer goods industry. I provided support, direction and scheduling for the assembly and warehouse team.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

It is great to be part of a company who has a clear direction and an understanding of how the team can get there.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Anything as long as it’s on a boat! Also spending time out and about with my wife, daughter and son.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Fresh, handmade pizza with plenty of pepperoni, or a good carbonara. Actually, most Italian foods!

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

Design engineer at a bespoke coach building company – designing outside broadcast vehicles, mobile medical units, generators and hospitality vehicles – prior to this I designed woodchippers for Timberwolf.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

Problem solving and developing designs to achieve a better product

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

My wife and I have a little girl called Melia who’s 2 years old now, we love to spend family time together and traveling to exciting new countries to experience different cultures. I also enjoy socialising with friends.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi.

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

After studying sports science at university, a weird turn of events led me to Engineering. I started as a Design apprentice for a company that manufactured Rotatory Equipment for 3 years, then designed and manufactured Piling Equipment for a company for over 10 years. Most recently I joined a company that manufactured medical devices.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

The responsibility of developing existing and future designs to make sure that Towmate Trailers are up there with the best.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I have a wife and 2 boys, so spending time with them and running them around, whether it be to Gymnastics or to karate. Back in the day, I used to enjoy playing sport. If I get time then I still like to get involved a little.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

This is a hard question as I just love food… I think it would be a nice Fish and Chips!

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

I have mostly been in a finance role for a local Colchester company – Bury Fixings and more recently covered an internal sales role too.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

Good atmosphere and friendly people to work with.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I like to cook as well as reading books and socialising with family. Also, I enjoy going for long walks.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Cereal.

What is your role at Towmate?

I work in the IT department, managing all aspects of Towmate’s IT systems. If it has a plug on the end, it is probably down to me!

What have you done before?

I was born inside a computer; well it feels like that sometimes! I started out working for a company that provided support for Telex Systems (for shipping companies), who also linked “different” computer systems together, then moved to the software division providing on-site network support (amongst other things – including development). Most recently I worked for a large concession-based Jewellery Business (you will not have heard of them but will have seen the products!) as I.T. Manager.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate?

I know that everyone says this, but it is the people! A fantastic team of people all working towards a common goal! A great working environment and I come to work every day looking forward to new challenges. Never a dull day!

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

We have a young daughter who takes up most of our time. So, it is mostly spending as much time together as a family, trying to get away on holiday when we can and generally enjoying life.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

That is a horrible question, I love all food! Would probably have to be steak and chips (although curry – chicken tikka masala/balti is a close second).

What did you do before you joined Towmate?

I left school last spring and went on to work for Greenmill AC, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and worked in the customer service department for the first 4 months and then went on to work as an EA and sales support.

What is your favourite thing about working for Towmate Trailers?

I’ve enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere here and feel comfortable in the team having only been here a few days!

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I love traveling around, experiencing different cultures and scenery around the world. Still, I am also very happy just spending time outdoors (when the sun’s out especially!) either in the garden or at the coast. Besides this, I love cooking and spending time with friends and family over some good food and drink.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I love all different cuisines but if I was going to have to eat this one meal all the time, it would have to be some sort of noodle dish… maybe chicken chow mein?
