CLIENT PROBLEM

Clancy are continually looking at ways to make tasks more efficient, resilient and sustainable. One of the key inefficiencies they found in the utilities sector was the siloed way that tasks are carried out.

For example, the completion of a stop tap replacement, which traditionally required eight people and five vehicles over a span of days. Clancy’s response to this issue was to commission an innovation called the hotbox trailer.

THE SOLUTION

The hotbox allows just two operatives and one vehicle to complete a stop tap replacement. Clancy has reduced its wastage and carbon footprint with the ability to carry enough hot mix asphalt at a working temperature for up to 2 days’ work – reducing trips to and from site for asphalt refills. The team moves directly from site to site, completing up to four tasks in a day and reducing the number of hours at each site. This has lowered the carbon emission per task and reduced the impact on the local environment.
