Electricity North West are one of fourteen distribution network operators in the UK. They are responsible for maintaining and upgrading 13,000 km of overhead power lines and more than 44,000 km of underground electricity cables and more.
They operate across multiple communities between the beautiful Lake District landscapes and all the way down to the bustling city of Manchester.
Electricity North West were transporting Forst tracked chippers as part of their fleet. The tracked chippers helped them in maintaining and looking after the power lines across the North West. However, the process required to strap down and secure the tracked chippers onto the trailers was proving inefficient and time consuming for them.
With our Rhino Plant Trailer, we already had a solution for strapless loading. The system, called LoadSentry, successfully provided a solution for securing diggers to the trailer without the need for multiple ratchet straps.
Having proven the system at Milbrook Testing ground we were confident in using this system and adapting it to work with other pieces of equipment. Therefore, we were approached to look at a potential option for applying the same principle to the Forst Tracked Chippers.
Working with Forst, Electricity North West and our in-house engineers, we developed an adaptation to our Load Sentry strapless digger system to work in conjunction with the TR8 tracked wood chipper.
The solution involved a stop bar being fitted to the chipper in order to ensure that the chipper was always loaded correctly and in the right position for weight distribution
