Sapphire Utilities Spill Trailer

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Sapphire Utility Solutions was founded in 2013, with a mission for working behind the scenes, maintaining the water, wastewater, and gas utilities that many of us take for granted.

Operating within the utility and highways sector, they specialise in the clean water, wastewater, gas, digital networks, and infrastructure sectors, working to ensure their clients delivery their business objectives and regulatory obligations.

CLIENT PROBLEM

Sapphire Utilities are responsible for the supply of water to the Northwest of the UK. They had a requirement for an incident control trailer to deal with environmental incidents caused by floods and spills.

Initially, the prime use of the spill control trailer was to carry bales of straw to build temporary retaining walls against collapsed riverbanks and a lockable cabinet to store spill absorbent equipment and waste bins for soiled materials.

THE DISCOVERY

Sapphire approached Towmate Trailers to collaborate in producing a trailer that would carry the bales of straw and have a lockable cabinet for extra spill equipment.

THE SOLUTION

Over the period of the next couple of months, we worked together on the project, and in the process created a complete special build trailer built bespoke to suit Sapphire Utilities requirements.

The resulting product was a curtain sided trailer in the client’s livery, which had an enclosed garage compartment within the trailer for the storage of the quad bike, a storage area for the quad bike’s trailer and a small lifting crane mounted on the front to load and unload the ATV trailer. The remaining storage area at the back of the trailer is for transporting the bales of straw.
