With so many different trailer types out there today, it can be hard to choose which is best for you. Having started selling trailer parts in 1995 and producing our trailers in 2020 we have seen and helped our customers select what is best for them.

In this blog, we will break down the trailer types we sell at Towmate Trailers and what they can each be used for to help you have a clearer understanding of which one you might need.

Plant Trailers

Starting with our most popular trailer type; the plant trailer. These trailers are built to endure the harsh environments that are associated with the construction and building industries. These trailers are most commonly used in the construction industry but can also be used for transporting other machinery around as well such as lawnmowers, tractors and of course, diggers.  A unique selling point we have on our own Rhino Plant Trailers is Loadsentry® which ensures quick and effective loading and securing of your diggers. General Duty Trailers

Coming in at our second most sold is the general duty trailer. These are for transporting large quantities of materials usually in landscaping, agricultural, or construction environments. They can also be used to transport machinery such as lawnmowers and tractors, golf buggy’s and more. They are available in single or twin axle and options and features are available for add-on in the future and can be removed or replaced as and when needed. This system also means that you can overcome any weight capacity issues should they arise. To view our range of general duty trailers, click here.

Rolling Chassis Trailers

Proven, robust European type approved rolling chassis kits designed to suit a range of compressors, pumps, generators, browsers, and more. Made from tough galvanised steel these are ideal for mounting equipment and machinery to improve efficiency. To view our range of rolling chassis trailers, click here.

Pipe Trailers

Pipe trailers are used for transporting large coils of pipe for gas, water, sewage, electrical, or other utilities sectors. The pipes that are transported with these trailers are usually too large to be transported another way and need to stand upright for easy transportation to use on site. Flatbed Trailers

These are versatile trailers with an open platform and have collapsible side walls, generally used for lifting heavy loads and materials for transportation from site to site. These are ideal for the special transport of wide and long goods due to the trailer being flat.

Tilt Bed Trailers

These are generally used to transport machinery and equipment. They can be used to carry a variety of vehicles from lawnmowers, plant machinery, ATV’s, etc. These trailers are designed to carry heavy items, and because of the tilting deck, it allows for machinery or awkward loads to be loaded onto the trailer a lot easier.

Tipper Trailers

Built to withstand the most difficult tasks on day-to-day use, our tipper trailers are usually used within many industries including builders’ merchants, and landscapers who may need to do activities like unloading loose mud or materials.

Unbraked Car Trailers

These are usually attached to the back of a car and are smaller. The unbraked element means that the car towing the trailer will be doing the braking.
