More Infrastructure. More pressure on the people delivering it.

Britain has entered into a period of infrastructure investment.

In the water sector alone, Ofwat approved a £50bn+ pipeline of 30 major infrastructure projects, covering everything from new reservoirs and water transfers to water recycling and desalination. The programme will be delivered over the coming 10–25 years, creating significant opportunities across the water and utilities supply chain.

For the contractors and operators delivering this work, the challenge isn’t simply having enough equipment.

It’s getting the right equipment, people and resources to site efficiently — and making sure they work efficiently when they get there.

WHERE DO THE INEFFICIENCIES HIDE?

More projects mean more equipment. More journeys. More loading and unloading. More pressure on engineering and operational teams. And when a trailer is being used every day across a busy fleet, small inefficiencies can quickly add up.

  • Time spent securing equipment.
  • Additional journeys.
  • Difficult loading and unloading.
  • Equipment that’s difficult to access on site.
  • Manual handling that could be reduced.

The question is:

Are your trailers simply transporting equipment — or are they helping your teams work more efficiently?

THE TRAILER CAN BE PART OF THE SOLUTION

Sometimes the biggest gains come from designing the trailer around the job rather than adapting the job around a standard trailer.

Take pipe installation. Towmate’s Raptor pipe trailers with LaySAFE have been designed around the specific challenges of transporting, handling and installing coiled pipe, helping to manage stored energy, reduce manual handling and improve installation efficiency.

In construction, the same principle applies. Towmate’s Raptor pipe trailers with LaySAFE have been designed around the specific challenges of transporting, handling and installing coiled pipe, helping to manage stored energy, reduce manual handling and improve installation efficiency.

The products are different. The principle is the same:

Design around the work. Remove unnecessary friction. Keep people and equipment moving.

THINK BEYOND THE TRAILER

As infrastructure programmes scale, fleet decisions are increasingly about more than purchase price and specification.

They’re about productivity, utilisation, safety and the cost of every operational decision.

That’s why Towmate works across utilities, construction and other demanding industries to develop trailers around the equipment, application and people using them — from specialist Raptor and LaySAFE pipe trailers to Rhino plant trailers and bespoke solutions.

Because when infrastructure work gets bigger, the small inefficiencies matter more — not less.

So, is your trailer simply getting the equipment to site, or is it helping your team get the job done?
